Just a short bus ride away from Lloret de Mar is the equally popular seaside resort of Blanes, often referred to as the Gate to the Costa brava! Blanes is a large holiday resort with a multitude of bars, restaurants, cafes as well as a fantastic shopping centre with a very good range of stores...in particular mens and ladies fashions, shoes & bags, accessories and household linens and textiles.

Sa Palmera jutting out to the sea separates Platja de Blanes and S'Abanell, taking a fairly easy climb up the rocky steps you will have fantastic views of both beaches with the old town of Blanes to the North and the tourist area with its many hotels, apartment and campsites to the South. The promenade along Platja de Blanes is lined with some excellent restaurants with outdoor eating areas. On the menu at many of these restaurants will be fish freshly caught and sold at the harbour by local fishermen that morning!

Along the promenade is where the weekly outdoor market is held every Monday - in my opinion one of the best around. A daily (ex Sunday) fruit  and vegetable market is held just one street back from the seafront.

Blanes is well known for its excellent campsites, some are almost on the beach!

The Marimurtra Botanical Gardens with its thousands of exotic cacti and

plants are located  on the cliffs high above Blanes port. You can take the special bus from the centre of Blanes if the trek up the steep road is too difficult!
